Our activities are always changing. In previous years, we've put on a very popular Asian Night Market where campers can play carnival games, win tickets, and barter for goods at the "store", much like traditional markets in Asia. On the last night, we do a traditional bonfire, and even had a karaoke night!
AASC offers pop culture, cooking, and arts classes led by the team of counselors. Previous years have included Tae Kwon Do classes taught by a parent of a camper, learning how to make traditional dishes like Congee, Kimbap, popular Korean corndogs, etc. We love sending our campers home with a fun craft to keep as memorabilia.
Our group discussions are a huge draw for families, as it truly sets AASC apart from other summer camp programs. Counselors lead discussions for different age groups in the evening. Topics are age appropriate and include adoption, identity, race/ethnicity, school, friends, etc. This is a safe space for campers to work through their thoughts with the support of friends and counselors.
