FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything You Need to Know
CAN CHILDREN USE THEIR CELLPHONES TO CALL HOME WHILE THEY’RE AT CAMP?
While we do allow campers to bring cell phones to camp, we ask that they leave them in their bunks during the day to be fully present for the week!
WHAT ARE THE FACILITIES LIKE?
Our retreat center features two indoor dorms with bunk beds and restrooms. Activities are conducted in our great room, cafeteria, and outdoor spaces. We have a soccer field, basketball court, and volleyball net. While there is a lake on the premises, we do not conduct any water sports involving the lake. The premises feature a full kitchen for our volunteers to prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
WHAT IS THE CRITERIA TO BECOME A COUNSELOR?
Our counselors are carefully chosen based on their prior experience with youth services, involvement in other Asian affinity groups, community service, etc. Background checks are run on all staff and volunteers. We have a number of counselors who are CPR certified.
WHO ATTENDS AASC?
We welcome campers ages 7-17 who are adopted from Asia. We also welcome siblings of adoptees, whether they themselves are adopted from elsewhere, or not.
WHAT ARE THE DATES?
AASC 2025 Dates will be announced soon! Please expect to drop off your camper Tuesday morning, and pick them up the following Saturday morning
WHAT IF MY CHILD HAS DIETARY RESTRICTIONS?
You will be able to list all dietary restrictions upon registration. Our kitchen staff will be informed and are able to make adjustments as needed.
